Found it:
NEXT WEEK'S FISHING PLANS:

These vessels will be displaying Maanulth identification flags.
Commercial Area D Gillnet - The fishery will open 6 pm Sunday July 15th to 4 am Friday July 20th from Pocahontas to Hocking Point. The fishery will open from Sunday July 15th to Friday July 20th from Hocking Point to Polly Point for 14 hours daily from 2pm to 4am except for Sunday July 15th which will open at 6pm.

The fishery will open Sunday July 15th 10 am to Thursday July 19th at 5pm from Dunsmuir boundary to Polly Point. There will be a closed area for seines as agreed to by the Area 23 harvest committee. This area is subject to adjustment by the committee, depending on sockeye abundance in-season. The initial seine closed area will be bounded in the north by a line from Dunsmuir Point to a boundary sign north of the log booms near China Creek and, in the south by a line drawn from Hocking Point easterly to the opposite shore.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.
TStalker and treblig, thank you, but what I am trying to find is not a DFO thing. I'm pretty sure that they are put out by the Area 23 Salmon Harvest Committee. If I remember correctly they meet every Thursday during the run, and release bulletins on Fri. I've seen many posted on forums, but I can't find the source. If they have a website, I can't find it. What springnut posted seems to be an excerpt from one. There is an older example of one on this thread on page 7, post #133.

What I posted was a copy/paste that the elder statesman IronNoggin posted on another forum. There he stated the source is a mass e-mail, I don't know from where but am satisfied that I cane find it on one of many forums out there.

I run just fast enough to get my flashers rotating rather than swishing back and forth. Start slow and speed up till they rotate, drop your lines to desired depth and check the angle of your deep lines. Try to maintain that angle going with or against the tide. If you pick up fish on the inside rod when turning, slow back a bit. If on the outside, speed up a bit. If the fish are hitting but not grabbing, speed up a bit. I run leaders less than 2ft. long. Works for me.
Cheers from the Crew of Stress Medicine

Ou today (Wednesday,July 25/012) in the Alberni Inlet from 6 a.m. to 12 noon.
Trolled for Sockeye until 10 a.m. and then trolled for Springs.
Tried Dunsmuir, Underwood, Cous Bay, Lone Tree area, and out front of Coulson's then up to Polly's Point.
Not a sockeye to be had. There were about 60 boats early a.m.
Not a single net came out......and I never saw anybody get one.
Tried 35ft to 90ft.
Used a lot of ''goto's''.
Mackerel loved my presentations......lovable little pests threw themselves at us (and everybody else) with wild abandon.
No Springs either.......but we got bored trolling for Sox and figured we'd play the wild card.
Even the mackerel quit biting after about 10 a.m.

Seems like a poor sport fishing year for socks in Alberni Inlet. Not sure if its a matter of lockjaw, water temps, commercial fishing, or the fish B-lining for the river. Has anyone been enjoying good success?

I was out with my 11 yr old daughter on Wed as well. Fished first light till 10ish. Same result..not a single bite from a sockeye. Didn't see one net come out. But holy mackerel!!
We ran down to Pill Pt to try for chinook. Fished there from 1030ish til almost 2, and the bite was on the whole time. Didn't catch one sockeye that day, but had one of the best days' fishing I''ve had since I bought my boat May of last year. Hooked into at least a dozen chinook, and got to see some whales to boot.
The latest bulletin put out Thursday has the sockeye run downsized to 750-800k, and estimates that approximately 4000 sockeye are in the inlet right now. Sounds like it was an early run. I won't be targeting them again. It doesn't really look good for a Fraser stock opening this year either. Likely no sox in the freezer for us this yr :(
Let's hope next year is better!!

I am very disapointed about the fishing reports from the inlet. We are three european fishermen to look for possibilities for fishing tours on Vancouver Island. When we read about the sockeye run, we went to China Creek Marina and went fishing between Dunsmuir Point and Nahmint Bay. NOT A SINGLE BITE FOR THREE DAYS! Just dead mackerels and lots of dead herrings. We`ve been there from Juli 31st till Aug 3rd. Besides there were no other locals or other sport fishermen who caught any sockeye during this period. Please change your reports to ''poor'' fishing in this area!

Sorry to hear about your fishing experience in the inlet there Big Tree. The sockeye fishing has been pretty bad all year in the inlet compared to a couple years ago.
The last report on this thread July 27th reported that the fishing for sockeye was terrible, no bites which is consistant with your experience a few days later. Doug Lindores, a local guide in the area reported a good sockeye bite the 3rd week of July and that was the last official report submitted. If you want advice on where to fish for salmon having come all the way from Germany most people will recommend a guided charter out of Ucluelet for offshore salmon. If you are still on the island try to experience that or Port Renfrew is another place fishing very well right now. Not to mention Port Hardy on the north island too...
If you ever plan to return to BC to go fishing again, please post on these forums in advance and let the members here help you plan where to go to get the best experience you seek.

My friend and I were out last Friday morning for a few hours and he got a 4 pound hatchery chinook at 40 feet deep and I got one about 20 pounds at 70 feet deep. Both on an anchovy with flashers. Upper Alberni Inlet so there are chinook around. We also got 9 mackerel.
