There's the Perfect Roller...and also the True-Roll...

I heard they were effective off the west coast of V.I.

Haven't heard of anybody using them on the east coast of V.I. yet.

I imagine Green, Blue, (Blue-Yellow (Pichard), and Pearl White would be the go-to colors.

I remember Mr. TrueRoll giving me some of these at the boat show two years ago..I was heckling him... .he was selling them for $16 or something ridiculous like that. He finally gave me 2 to shut me up. Guess what..I have fished them on 4 trips.....NO BITES... look ok in the water, but don't produce...the score for 4 trips... spoons 17 fish off all sizes, true roll...0.

Same thing with Brad's Baits...yeah..they catch the odd fish....doesn't mean I'm going to buy 'em stick with the tried n true.

Tried the true roll and they didnt produce for me maybe I was fishing them too fast??

The perfect roller is like an apex but with a way better action. Figured it would be dynamite on the banks but the spoons outfished it.

I used a couple different tru-rolls for coho on the surface while trolling offshore. They were one of the better lures for coho but then again the coho were taking swipes at the downrigger release clips in the water... Never caught a spring on them.

The Perfect Roller is a Charlie Jones invention I believe. He lives down in Crofton
.
It has an Apex-like action.

Charlie Jones has another lure in the works...called a ''C.J. Special''

You can see a picture of it on Makingtackle.com (run by Rob from PacNet).

They've been developing this one for a couple of years and from what I've heard it's deadly on salmon. It will be available soon in several sizes all the way up to...ready?.....ELEVEN inch.

(Don't laugh.......it works).

Apparently Charlie nailed the ''wounded bait'' action to a tee on this new lure.

The perfect roller looks a lot like an apex but doesnt wobble, it rolls just like anchovy in a teaser head. Apexes dont roll much, they wiggle.

Hooker you are right about the CJ Special they do work great, I had a chance to fish them on the east side and get my hands on a couple....what an awsome roll!!!!I am heading to the Sound the 20th and for derby weekend and will have one on full time along with my go to lure's, will let ya know how well it does for me. I am going to try won with a dodger, shorten my leader and see what kind off roll it gives then, hopefully a killer roll.

Deeds....Apparently the CJ Special is a ''goto'' lure for Murphy Sportfishing on the west coast so I'm told.

Cory.....I've never used a Perfect Roller yet.....but they say it has both actions....a really good roll and also an occasional wobble like an Apex. However if you've used one and it rolls but does nothing else I'll take your word for it......Cheers...

Hey Hooker there is some underwater footage of the perfect roller in action on my fishing video at 3:17. http://www.catchingon.tv

I dont think it has a wiggle at all, just a wounded roll. Just my opinion though. If you start fishing them let me know how they produce!

I bought 2 True Roll lures at boat show. Cop Car and Glow Pearl. Tried them many times in Strait of Georgia no luck.

I didn't try them in Nootka.

A friend of mine was lucky enough to get his hands on one the the 7'' pilchard C.J. Specials. He absolutely slayed the fish out of Ukee with that thing until his main line broke coming out of the release clip and he saw a Tyee jumping wildly trying to throw the hook. He swears by that lure!!! I'll be in line to get some when they finally go into production. I've got a couple of the smaller ones to try for feeders this winter.
