Howdy folks .
Hi there, my name is John Conroy. I'm 25 years old, come from Fort Saskatchewan Alberta Canada. A little bit about me. I've been fishing since I was 5 years old and remember doing lots of fishing with my grandpa and dad. As I got older, I’d venture down to the nearby river catching 2 and 3 pound pike, luckily with in a 2 to 3 hour drive in any which direction are lakes that produce huge fish.
I'm here looking to get myself out there letting others hear about me. My goal is to join a pro fishing tour in either Canada, or the United States. I mainly fish for Pike & Walleye, yet I am starting to fish other species of fish. It doesn’t matter the time of year spring, summer, winter, I'm out there fishing. I live it eats it and breathes fishing and dream about it. I drive my family crazy. But, if you want to give me some tips or tricks to this great sport we have been given, hit me up... let me know. For now lets get out there fishing' and get some tight lines. As well as I own my own tackle / Charter company and look forward to working with Cory and the other staff of fishtactics.com. Tight lines to all.

Hello All,
Just surfing around today and found this website...really useful! So I've signed up and I'm hoping to get a bit of information from you.
First of all, I'm from Bellingham, WA, grew up fishing the Hood Canal and Sekiu areas. Its been really hit and miss lately, so we are motoring the boat up from Neah Bay this year to Barkley.
My main question I need to figure out is where to stay! We are on a budget, so camping on one of the islands sounds perfect. It this an option? If not, any cheap moorage/camping areas around Bamfield? Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi There what a terrific site! I have learned alot from all of your posts. We were thinking of salmon fishing around Browns Bay, Elk Bay area. I have not seen any reports on this area? Anybody heard of anything. Cheers Sue

Welcome lurelady! Ive noticed not too many on this site yet from the CR area, but there is a campbell river report posted by a guide. Im not really familiar with the area but I heard the closed down cape mudge for springs so they might have shut down some other areas too???. Tight lines!

Well we fished for two days up past Brown Bay and it was Terrible!! Fish showing on the sounder but nothing would bite. We tried everything from anchovy, hootchie, plugs but no luck. Anybody heard if the pinks are moving down or anything? Depressed in Browns Bay

Hi friends my name is Jason Wright. My wife and I recently moved to Cumberland. It is by far a great community. It takes me about 5 minutes to get to the nearest launch. I have only been out about 10 times this year and already Im really excited. I hooked into a Pink the other night on a little pink hootchie but so far all my attempts at the big springs under me have failed. Am I trolling too fast? Is my leader too short/long, Is my roll wrong? Is my sounder full of shi*? I dont know what exactly is the reason but I am tenacious and I'll keep trying different things til I hammer em.
Also I am not really familiar with the area so Im still exploring the holes, learning where the shelves are and what not. I ran out to Norris Rocks for Slack tide yesterday and seen hundreds of large fish on my sounder but the SE was picking up and I had a hard time with the swells.( I have a small boat).
The local buzz seems to be out around Kitty Coleman or Cape Lazo first thing in the morning but I find that launch hard to load out of in the wind. Is any one fishing this area, where is a good place to look?

the ramp at Cape Lazo (Pt Holmes) is not very good, no protection whatsoever and tide dependant as a rule. Better off at Comox Harbour or at Union Bay and run out there. You can launch down at Deep Bay to access the bottom of Hornby/ Flora/ Bowser. Springs should pick up in mid August as fish start to return to the Big and Little Qualicum rivers. Be aware there is a closure from Nile Creek (Bowser) up to Chrome Is. and lower Lambert til mid August. Fishing off the BQR can be quite good in late August.

Hey Jason, Welcome to the site! I grew up saltwater fishing just a bit further south in the french creek area. South tip of flora should be a good bet right now to intercept some big fish moving through, try a 4'' cop car coyote spoon. The little pink hootchy seems to work really well off the river mouths when the fish are staging and not feeding.
If your sounder is showing hundreds of big blips below you and you arent catching - something is fishy !!! In my experience it could be sounder malfunction, seals, kelp, sea bass, dogfish or hake - not necessarily salmon.
Kitty Coleman is a good spot, troll your bait deep right on bottom for springs. The seals are so bad there though that most guys have given up.
Keep us updated and good luck.

Hello, my name is Rhonda, and I grew up in Campbell River, and now living in Comox BC. I have been a sport fish lover all my life, fresh and salt water. I have never caught a salmon until last year ( believe it or not ) when I was invited to fish in Port McNeil. I am traveling that way soon, to try for the almighty Chinook, and Hali as well.

Hey Herb, Welcome to the site! Nice to have you onboard. Our site is only a year and a half old, so we're still trying to grow a larger member base. If you enjoy the site, spread the word. I think you'll find most of the members on here pretty helpful.
