Thanks man. Refer your friends! More members with different fishing backgrounds will result in a better site.

I joined a few weeks ago and it's time to introduce myself.
I live in Bend, Oregon and keep the Sea Wolf, a 22 C-Dory in Port Townsend WA. I have a brother on the Island and spend a lot of time in Canada fishing and enjoying the beautiful country and friendly folks.
We are going to spend June in Ucluelet and move up to the Telegraph Cove/Broughtons for July. We will spend a couple of weeks in Winter Harbor before coming back down to Pedder Bay for a month. Really looking forward to it and thanks for all the great info on the site.

Finally got myself signed up as a member after reading fishing reports on Fishtactics for over a year.

I live in the Lower Mainland and spend quite a bit of time cruising and fishing locally. We also took the boat over to Sooke for a day of fishing last year.

I am hoping to do some fishing on the west coast of the island with our own boat this summer - had a great time fishing 4 weekends from Ucluelet on a friends boat last fall.

We have an older 17 ft Arima Sea Ranger with a 90 hp Honda. Great boat.

Howdy All
Great Site, lots of good info. I can actually find specific recent info on areas I go to, not just vague ''Vancouver Island'' stuff from 2007.

I grew up on Quadra Island and spent most of my youth as a dock rat, fishing with my dad and my buddies. I've caught and eaten pretty much any species you could find in Quathiaski Cove, though many of them I'd pass on now! Then I moved to Saskatoon. I worked in northern Saskatchewan and Nunavut, catching plenty of Pike, Walleye, Lake Trout and Grayling.

Now I'm back on the salt chuck having moved to Courtenay with my family last summer. Lovin' being back on the island and it'd take a force of nature to drive me back to those -40 winters again!

I'm re-discovering the salt and fresh water fishing here and hittin' the clam and oyster beds too. Can't get enough. Keep the stories and info coming and I'll do my best to post my results!

Hey all!

I've been fishing this Island since my early 20's. Started salmon fishing in Becher Bay, ended up guiding out of Sooke and Victoria for quite a # of years. Spent 8 years in Ontario before moving back to the Island in Nanaimo July/08.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the water with smiles and good catches!

Let me introduce myself, Carla, 28 years old. I live in Tampa, FL. I do like your Forum. I practice several sports, especially cycling, horsing, hiking and I like so much bird watching. I also enjoy reading, traveling, and to meet new people. There’s still much to say, but let’s talk about it on the forum.

Hi, my name is Willina and you can probably tell from my ''fish name'' that it is somewhat of a joke that I like to fish. My husband doesn't believe that I will catch anything. We just got our boat last fall (28.5 Bayliner Bounty) and I haven't fished since I was a kid. Most of our time will be spent in the Howe Sound area and Vancouver Harbour. Any tips on when and how to fish this area would be welcome. I have two downriggers but have only used one so far, I am a little nervous about trusting the rods holders to really hold the rod and not watch it go sailing into the chuck. I look forward to talking to you guys/gals.
Talk to you soon, BucketOchkn.

Hey Willina welcome aboard FishTactics.com! Sounds like you are well equipped now to go catch some salmon. The scotty rod holder tubes that mount to the downrigger boom are pretty reliable... I use them just make sure the screws arent loose and that your drag isnt cranked down to hard...that way the fish can take line off the reel instead ripping the rod, reel, and holder off the downrigger

I think some nice fish should be showing up in Howe sound soon and then late summer through fall it is usually a gong show near the mouth of the capilano. If you have any questions about the specifics post in a saltwater topic and Im sure members would be more than willing to help.
