Just wondering how far up Beaver Creek rd. money's pool is ? Would this be a good place to start fishing ? and are there decent trails leading off to other nice runs in the area? I never fished past the bucket last year..

Ya Moneys pool is good, probably the best if you are walking. I sent you the directions.

For the upper river fishing from shore moneys is one of the only access points - unless you have access to private land.

I agree its the easiest to get to, and probably the best spot to fish, but you can walk up stream as far as the ash or downstream a long ways. That is a lot of the river. The best part to fish is above the ash which is only accessible by drift or boat.

You can actually fish that spot above the ash without a boat, it a tricky logging road but there is one that takes you right to the spot the bolder run. But you can only get to it by going on the airport side.

I ended up downstream of Black rock. I made that left instead of staying straight... Anyway it was great.. I had my fam with me and I landed a nice 3 or 4lb rainbow ( I think ) in pocket water. The kids got to see a beautiful fish released.. I might try again tomorrow and I found the trail leading to money's..

It was probably a small summer run steely. There are very few resident rainbows in the stamp. Cutties drop back from the lake but you'll notice the orange slash under the jaw and they are heavily spotted...anyways good on you for getting your family out.

PS - a single bc orange jensen on a size 4 gammy is deadly right now

That's what he took.. Single egg / white wool combo. Steeliecore also put me onto a nice Coho today. It sure is nice to have guys with experience helping, otherwise it would be back to limiting out on tree branches.

Thinking of taking rubber boat to the upper river but never been there. Can you work your way up with a prop and drift back down? Was thinking of launching at the park. Any advice appreciated.

yes you can, but you should launch from the fish hatchery, theres fantastic steelhead fishing there right now, tons and tons of summer run steelies. Call gone fishing port alberni for the directions to the gate for the stamp river fish hachtery boat launch, I highly recomend it. And if your new to the system use a single orange egg with a pinch of peach wool, they hammer this right now.

One ho and one steelhead, both released. Lots of both in the river but I couldn't get them to bite. It was very cool trip and your advice was excellent. Guides I spoke to were getting six to ten per trip. I guess I will have to keep trying. I owe you a beer if I see you on the river. Thanks.

Boat was easy. Ramp is good and water not so fast as to make it difficult. Signs say gate closes at 3:30 sharp.
