Salmon Fishing Slow

The fishing is SLOW for smaller winter springs out on the Oak Bay Flats, especially due to the recent bad weather. Not many people are going fishing. The springs have been close to the bottom in the 80 to 140 foot depths. Most of the action is coming on Squirts fished right off the bottom. The best Squirts have been the Purple Haze and Jellyfish. The best spoons have been green and silver 4' Coyotes, Titans or Gypsys. Green/silver or Purple Glow Hot Spot flashers have been good.

HALIBUT - Nothing new to report here. When the conditions are favorable, there are some nice halibut to be caught. Extra Large Herring or Octopus fished off of a spreader bar and close to the bottom works best to catch the big flatfish.
