Sockeye Biting in the Port Alberni Inlet

The Sockeye have finally turned on for a day or two in the Port Alberni Inlet. The last three days we have seen an increasing bite and a few more salmon landed each day. The water has warmed up on the surface and is almost 72 degrees farenheit by mid morning. The area left for the sport fisherman between Dunsmuir Point and Nahmint has been the best. The sockeye are anywhere from forty to eighty feet and are hitting the usaul mp 15, black and pink, and blue and pink hootchies with a leader length of 24 to 28 inches. If you want to get out and get a Sockeye or two now seems to be the time. One distraction has been mackeral. For some reason a warm current has moved into the area that has created a bombardment of mackeral showing up also. Call Doug at 1 250 724 2502 for more information on Sockeye fishing and for information on August Chinook and Coho fishing
