Spotty Sport Fishing in Barkley Sound
The sport fishing in the Barkley Sound area has been relatively spotty over the last few days. The migrating salmon are not holding in any particular area and are in one spot one day and gone the next. Over the past week there really has not been a hotspot. Meares and Harbor Entrance had some great morning and late tide change bites as has Cree and Kirby and Diplock. Diplpock was the hotspot on Thursday as the early morning was quite good and the afternoon tide change between 1:15 and 2:15 pm had a great hour of action. There are not too many areas where there is a large concentration of bait fish. If there was the Chinook and early Coho might hold. The Chinook in the inner Barkley Sound areas are mostly Robertson Creek fish making their way up to the Alberni Inlet where the fishing is currently very good for Chinook in the twenty to thirty pound range.
