The salmon fishing out on the surf line close to Meares, Austin Island, Edward King, and Beale continue to be in what many would describe as phenomenal. There have been plenty of Chinook salmon and Coho in the mix. Likely most of the salmon are migrating to the big water sheds to the south but they are coming in to feed on the rich resources of bait fish which have been very small herring, some needle fish, and anchovy. The fish have been actively hitting smaller spoons in the cookies and cream coho killer and a couple of the smaller TKO spoons especially the knight rider. Anchovy in a variety of teaser heads--army truck glow, green haze, and purple haze--have been also working very well. The weather has been superb and the water very nice with a north westerly coming up in the afternoon to cool things down. It is a long weekend for many Canada's 150th birthday. Many will be out on the water. Take all safety precautions and stay safe. For more information call Doug at 250 724 2502. It is not too late to organize your fishing and accomodation package for this summer.
