The Sport Salmon fishing for Coho and Chinook around the Bamfield area in September was fantastic. The Bamfield Wall, Kirby and Edward King plus Fleming all provided some great fishing opportunities. The best sport fishing was definitely at Whittlestone. There were ample Chinook and Coho that were migrating to a number of destinations in the area. The sport fishing has really slowed now as the salmon make their final destination to their natal rivers and streams. Over the past week their was definitely some wonderful afternoons out on the water. The sun has been warm with the anticipation of some big Coho in the water giving one a sensation of excitement. A few Coho up to sixteen pounds were landed around Nanat Island and Yankee Bay. There were also a few nice Coho and Chinook down along the wall toward Poett Nook. Pill Point which is opposite the Bamfield area also had a few Coho up to sixteen pounds over the past week. The salmon have been in shallow water and are still hitting anchovy in army truck glow, green haze, and cop car teaser heads behind green and purple gold flashers. It has been a terriffic year. The salmon fishing is definitely for summer runs coming to a abrupt end. Call Doug at 250 731 7389 for more information and to organize your accomodation and fishing opportunities for 2018.
