SPECIES RATING FISHING PRESSURE BEST TIME OF DAY
Cutthroat Trout to 3 lbs SPOTTY LOW Mid Morning
Sockeye Salmon to 8 lbs SPOTTY LOW N/A
Steelhead to 15 lbs SLOW LOW Mid Morning
Not Targeted: Chinook Salmon, Chum Salmon, Coho Salmon
The upper Stamp is again open as of May 1 and with luck we will see it healthy and fishing for trout..the Upper reaches can produce some fine Cutthroat Trout out of Great Central Lake chasing small sockeye smolts and other fry. The Rainbow we know are baby Steelhead mostly and for the past few years we have seen a serious decline in their numbers..handle with care . Dry Fly,Stone flies, small leeches,Minnow patterns all work depending on water conditions. There will be recovering Steelhead along the way so please do treat them with care and respect. This is a perfect fishery for small Spey Rods and Switch rods. Sockeye will now be entering the system now in very low numbers with every tide ,increasing throughout the month into June and July where the numbers peak. If lucky we will see enough numbers to have a fishery on the Lower Somass again
